When it comes to installing television aerials in Lytham St.Annes there are a few things to bear in mind. Firstly although on a clear day in some parts of the town it is possible to see both winter hill TV Transmitter but to also see the north welsh mountains too. Why is this noteworthy you may ask. Well as an aerial fitter I have sometimes come across a problem when tuning the TV once an aerial has been installed. It will sometimes tune into the welsh transmitter for the BBC channels or the Channel 4 group. It isn’t always the same but it does only seem to occur in this area. I have not noticed this problem when working further east in Preston or Leyland. It can be quite frustrating since having fit a new TV Antenna you want to be able to get it to tune into the winter hill transmitter but instead due to what I guess are atmospheric anomalies it picks up one or more of the multiplexes and bingo you have just tuned into C4 or BBC wales.
If this happens, which it sometimes does I will firstly retune the TV and hope that it picks up the correct transmitter signal. If after a couple of attempts at re-tuning I will have to return will a filter to be able to tune the TV successfully. The filter works by stopping the signals from outside of the channels 49-60 from getting to the telly. The tuner then can only tune into the signals that winter hill transmitter broadcasts through. This then will resolve the issue. Fortunately, it doesn’t happen that often and in some cases I can go to a property where the householder is having this problem already. Sometimes its due to a faulty aerial, usually it has water ingress. The way forward to resolving this aerial fault is to carry out a TV Aerial Installation replacing both the old aerial and cable altogether.
